Yes I know it only seems like five minutes since the 20th anniversary, but there you go, another 5 years gone. The date is Sunday 1st June 2003 at the Boardwalk, Snig Hill, Sheffield (again). Admission will be £5.00 on the door, £4.00 for advance tickets, available now from Haze 25 Fir St Sheffield S6 3TG, as well as the venue and Jacks Records on Division Street, Sheffield. Haze & Treebeard at Whitchurch

No they just can't get rid of us! The festival is at the Testbourne Centre, Whitchurch, Hants on the weekend on 1-3 August 2003. So far confirmed are IQ & Sphere on Friday, Caravan & Haze/Treebeard on Saturday & Treebeard, Tony McPhee & Acoustic Strawbs on Sunday. All the main concerts arte in the evening with informal (hopefully outdoors) acoustic sessions in the afternoon. Tickets are £38 for the weekend (inc. camping) or £14 for Friday, £16 for Saturday & £14 for Sunday, from 'Whitchurch Festival' 1 Riverside, London Street, Whitchurch, Hants RR28 7LW.

Change of plan! Treehaze are now playing on the Sunday evening, sometime between 6-8pm and Treebeard will be playing outdoors on the Saturday afternoon. Maybe around 2pm? Check out the Whitchurch Festival site for details.

Paul's 40th Birthday Pary

March saw the unhappy spectacle of the last of the Treebeards to turn 40, so we celebrated in appropriate style with a Haze/Treebeard gig/party. Particularly noteworthy was the reappearance of a number of old school friends, who had managed to avoid us for the last 20 years or so. Hopefully we'll see a few more old timers at the Boardwalk in June.

Stoat & Bottle

I'm having great problems with remastering this, our old four track recorder (new in 1983) is really struggling to play back the old tapes, so plans to have it available on CD by the 25th anniversary show are not going to happen now. Hopefully we may get it out by later in the summer.

 Treehaze

Is something we've been doing quite a lot of recently. Driven by gigs like Whitchurch & The Newark Beer Festival, where they keep rebooking us, but are looking for something as little different, and the Italian Tour, where both bands just happened to be in the same place at the same time, this is a mutant hybrid of both bands. So we do electric versions of Treebeard songs, and add acoustic parts to Haze electric songs.

Average age of Treebeard plummets in one fell swoop

Gordon's been off holidaying in Devon for last few weeks, so, not being the sort of band to let not having a fiddler stop us, I've spent my evenings selflessly scouring the pubs & sessions of Sheffield, sampling the beers, launching into absurdly fast Irish Jigs, trying to find the perfect stand in, before collapsing dead drunk in the corner. Despite the rather unscientific method, the search ended over a chip butty in the Red House, when the unfeasibly young, beautiful & talented Charley was persuaded to get onstage with a bunch of old men for the princely sum of £30! Two rehearsals later we were away, with a great show at the Catholic Club in Wombwell, and a slightly less successful (someone forgot to tell the Landlord we were coming) show at the Cutting Edge, Barnsley.

Charley did a great job, all the more spectacular when you find out she's actually a guitarist (If you've ever seen three girls busking on Cole's Corner, Sheffield City Center - Purple Jen on the fiddle (the one with purple hair - you can't miss her), Ceri on flute & Charley on guitar, they're called Snapdragon (I think), so give 'em a quid for me!
